YY9 Gallery is pleased to present "Poetic Space", a joint exhibition by Arthur Chan and Sim Chan. In this exhibition, the two local artists will present their latest series of artworks which provide a brand-new perception of poetic space via the transformation and deconstruction of architecture in the cityscape into creative works of interactive installation. Through the process of art creation, both manage to create a metaphorical narrative that depicts the hidden memory and hence defines the soul of the city.

Arthur's latest sculpture series, "traces of the city", transforms some peculiar silhouettes of the city into various forms of pictorial representation, which capture unique shapes and scenes we see every day such as the outlines of skyscrapers, streets, back lanes and open spaces. Sim’s sculpture series, "CityKite", aims to reflect the impact of urbanization by means of traditional craftsmanship — kite making. While it is often seemingly impossible to fly a kite in a crowded city, the artist intends to create his latest series of artwork as an analogy between the urban dwellers and the banned kites in the city, revealing and symbolizing the dream of kites and hence urban dwellers to fly free from all the constraints the sake of freedom.
